I ran into Dawn on route 202, just outside of Sandgem Town. She showed me how to capture wild Pokémon. She and her Chimchar are an amazing team, and they work really well together. Basically, when you battle a wild Pokémon, after its health becomes low enough – the lower, the better – you can capture in an empty Pokéball. Simple enough I think.
You can also making capturing Pokémon easier if you can successfully put them to sleep. She also gave me five Pokéballs to get started. I’m so excited, five free Pokéballs, now I don’t have to spend any of that money my mom gave before I left to buy some. I stored them in my Pokéballs Pocket for safe keeping.
